Nadhmiyah Al Abed

  • She is the woman, the mother, and the educator who contributed to building the foundation for the generations of Emirati society through her role in raising and nurturing children. She was a pillar for them in education and upbringing, by establishing Al-Wurood School, which was one of the most prominent private schools from 1982 to 2002. Her contributions never stopped, and she never hesitated to offer any professional, scientific, or educational advice. A large group of the pioneers of the Emirati renaissance and civilization emerged through her efforts in raising a generation capable of bearing responsibility and devoted to serving it. She succeeded in training and developing a large number of teachers and contributed significantly to their training and qualification through lectures and training courses that she organized or participated in to give them their proper status. She also taught in her early days at Al-Khansa'a Government School and Shuwaihat School in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Sonnya Ryan

  • Sonya Ryan dedicated her life to promoting internet safety through the Carly Ryan Foundation, which she established in memory of her daughter Carly. She began her journey in making the world a safer place for children after her daughter Carly became a victim of exploitation and assault over the internet, and was later murdered in 2007 in Australia. She didn't retreat into herself to express her grief; instead, she reached out to others to help prevent similar tragedies. Today, Sonya is a frequent visitor to schools, where she shares Carly's story to warn about the potential dangers of interacting online.
